ART DIRECTION

Overview

I have worked on the Explain Everything app for over 11 years, with the last 7 years as the Lead Designer. I led the design across three platforms – iOS, Android, and Web – while ensuring full compliance with the unique design systems and guidelines of each platform.

As Product Designer, I set the app's visual direction, creating illustrations and animations that established its education-friendly image. My role involved close collaboration with developers, providing detailed designs, assets, and guidelines to ensure smooth implementation.

I also supported the marketing team by delivering up-to-date materials or supervising their creation, ensuring the app’s branding and messaging remained cohesive and impactful.

Challenges

Creating new AI-powered features such as lift subject, challenges (interactive tutorials), activities (allowing users to create their own games like memo, crossword etc.)
Implementing LMS Integration (Learning Management System)
Designing Workspaces (custom interface)
Rebranding for three platforms: iOS, Android, Web
Adjusting Explain Everything for a range of new devices
Creating design style guide and design system for in-app illustrations

Results

During my years with the company I participated in creation of a product loved by a lot of teachers and students worldwide – proved by over 24 million downloads. In 2020 Explain Everything received Apple Trends of 2020 Award for Leading the Classroom.
